Revitalizing Main Street is all about making downtown Pagosa Springs the place to be. From fresh facades to creative public spaces, we’re reimagining the heart of our town with charm, character, and community at its core.
✅ Thriving Local Businesses – Supporting growth and long-term success downtown
✅ Safer, Walkable Streets – Prioritizing pedestrians, bicycles, and mobility for all
✅ Inviting Public Spaces – Encouraging connection, creativity, and community gathering
✅ Stronger Sense of Place – Celebrating our small-town charm while planning for the future
With thoughtful investments in infrastructure and beautification, Revitalizing Main Street isn’t just about aesthetics (though we do love a good photo op); it’s about strengthening the community, boosting local businesses, and making downtown more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
Middle School Revitalization Project
Transforming Downtown, One Phase at a Time
One of our proudest projects under the Revitalizing Main Street initiative is the Middle School Revitalization Project. We’re transforming the area around the middle school into a safe, engaging, and downright cool space that reflects our vision for a more connected downtown.
Phase 1: Infrastructure + Safety Upgrades
We teamed up with the Town of Pagosa Springs to secure a $250,000 CDOT Revitalizing Main Streets Grant. This funding is bringing some much-needed love to the area around the school.
What’s Included:
- New sidewalk for safer pedestrian access
- Upgraded landscaping to improve visual appeal
- Creative parklet design, featuring a transit stop and a solar-powered bike cent
These upgrades focus on more than aesthetics. They prioritize pedestrian safety, improve accessibility, and create a space where people want to gather and connect.
Phase 2: Greenhouse + Gathering Space Enhancements
The next phase turns attention to the middle school’s greenhouse, which could use a little love. With grant funding, we’ll bring innovation and connectivity to the forefront while tying the project together with thoughtful community design.
Planned Enhancements Include:
- Replacing outdated greenhouse panels for better functionality and a richer hands-on learning experience
- Creating a cutting-edge educational hub for horticulture, food systems, and sustainability
- Installing a Wi-Fi hotspot for digital access and community use
- Designing a “front porch” gathering space that invites people into downtown
We’re committed to making downtown a place where learning, connection, and community spirit grow. With the help of local partners and continued support from our community, we’re working to bring this next phase to life—and we’re excited for what’s ahead.
